Macchu Pichu is one of the worlds greatest mysteries. They are still not sure how they got the city built and what its purpose was. There is speculation.
The city itself is very difficult to get to. There is a train that has to go up switchbacks. Then an a long and windy dirt road bus trip (you can walk this stretch). The altitude is is high, above 9,000 feet.
