This is the example of the apple photograph that took me about 6 shots to get. I had the image in my mind of what I wanted it to look like. I had the one apple in the forfront and in sharp focus. The six other apples are in the background in the upper half of the image and slightly out of focus. I wanted the apples to look like they were floating hence the velvet back drop for a background and foreground. There is no distinction between sitting on something and the background. This gives the feeling that they are floating. we will come back to these apple photographs in the future and talk some more.
This poppy photograph I had the image or something close to it in my head but getting this one took about a 1000 shots. It was the right combination of lens, distance of the foreground and distance of the background to the main poppy that is in focus. I used a 100 – 400 mm lens to get this shot. I will come back to this image in the future when I talk about some other elements that helped me finally obtain the fine art photograph I was after.
