Continuing on with the last post with a different views I thought I would start off with the different types of lenses that could be used. This post will talk about macro lenses. You can get a fairly inexpensive macro lense and the abilities it offers is incredible. You can get within inches and see a world that is not really seen with the human eye. Take a drop of water on a young plant. If you use a large aperature (or small fstop like f2.8) you can get a very sharp drop of water but everything before and everything after is out of focus. This adds interest to the photograph. You can pull the camera back several Macro Photography feet and the scene changes dramatically. The objects will look more like a regular 35mm lens shot.
The image above was taken with a 50mm lens. The plant was about 2 inches tall and the water drops were about the size of a pencil head. I had the fstop set to 2.8 and I think I would have opened it a bit to make the rest of the plant not so blurred. The image is still interesting because it is not something we see in our daily lives. That is what makes macro photography so interesting. You can take portrait images as well. You can get within inches (and most people are uncomfortable with this) but play around. I got some amazing shots. Again it is a perspective that just is not seen within our daily lives.
