This series shows the original image that was taken. As you can see from the first photograph the red egret is not very close. I was unable to get any closer (and they are a very skidish bird and usually stay out further). The next two images show a cropped version. What usually happens is the photograph gets grainy. Sometimes a grainy effect is good and sometimes we want a very smooth image. (This was not the best photograph to show this on so I will revist Neat Image but for now try to look at the grainy effect and what a nice job Neat Image does with the image.) Neat Image is a nice product that does not cost alot of money. I will talk about other software in the future (and no Neat Image does not know I am doing this write up it is the software I use and have been very satisfied with.)

Red Egret and How to Crop the Photograph

Red Egret and how to crop the image so we
can see the egret closer up

Red egret cropped and the photograph is very grainy

The same photograph this one is cropped
to show the red egret closer up. The image
is more grainy. (I will have to get another
example it is harder to see the grainy in
the small size.)

red egret with Neat Image applied less grainy

This image of the red egret is not as
grainy. I will get another exmaple and will
have to use a larger exampe (and cropped
more).
